Jean-Christophe CHENEVAL is an author, composer, interpreter, musician, and sound engineer.
He has been awarded several prizes from conservatories in percussion, chamber music, composition, orchestration, and writing, as well as from the Higher Training in Sound Professions (FSMS) at the National Conservatory of Music (CNSM) in Paris. He works both in the studio and in concert halls as a sound engineer, arranger, director, instrumentalist, and interpreter.
As a laureate of a SACEM prize, he dedicates a significant part of his activity to composing pieces that combine various disciplines such as contemporary music, lyrical art, dramatic art, and physical expression. He also creates music for visual media, including animated series, documentaries for Arte and France Television, virtual reality films (including an official selection at the Venice Film Festival), and live performances (puppetry, masks, theater).
Supported by the DRAC of Hauts-de-France, he was chosen as an artist in residence at Art Zoyd for the 2017-2018 season to develop his electroacoustic creation. He regularly collaborates with various national orchestras (ONPL, ONL, etc.) as a musical advisor or sound engineer.
He is also responsible for the arrangements and/or musical direction of several projects that blend “classical” instruments with contemporary music, including the opening ceremony of Serie-Mania in March 2022 and the European tour of “Grandaddy and the Lost Machine Orchestra” in April 2022.
In addition to these activities, he pursues a career as a singer and literary author under the name JEANCRISTOPHE. After releasing two albums (“L comme lui” and “Ma vie en rose”) and two books (“Dos au mur,” published by Éditions de l’Offcine, an official selection of the Prix du Marais 2008, and “I IL II L,” published by Romy Lopss), he released a new EP titled “Où est la joie?” in 2021, produced by Simon FACHE and mixed by Dominique BLANC-FRANCARD.
June 25, 2023, marks the release of his first novel, “L’étrange projet d’Oscar Phenangiele.”
